City situated on Yamuna River

Yamuna River is one of the most famous rivers of India. It is the largest tributary of Ganga. The famous river has its source in the Yamunotri Glacier at an altitude of 6,387 meters on the south-western flanks of the Bandarpuch peak in the lower Himalayan range.

The total length of the river is 1,376 km (855 mi) and its catchment area is 366,223 km2. Before joining the Ganges at the Triveni Sangam in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, it comprised 40.2% of the entire Ganges valley. Triveni Sangam is home to the Kumbh Mela, which takes place every 12 years.
