1) - Scientists from the University of Basel in Switzerland have recently discovered a new part of the human jaw muscles. Scientists describe this structure of the masseter muscle as an additional third layer and propose to name it 'musculus masseter pars coronaidia'. The muscle can be felt under the ear. The musculature itself elevates the lower part of the jaw and plays an important role in chewing food.

2) - Himachal Pradesh won the title for the first time by defeating Tamil Nadu by 11 runs by VJD system in the final of Vijay Hazare Trophy on 26 December 2021. Tamil Nadu had scored 316, while Himachal had scored 299 for 4 in 47.3 overs. The match was called off due to bad lighting and Himchal was declared the winner. Himachal has been successful in winning the domestic tournament for the first time. Let us tell you that the VJD method is used in Indian domestic cricket, List A, T20 cricket and Indian women's matches during rain, weather conditions or any other type of obstruction.

3) - Vishwavir Ahuja, the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RBL Bank has stepped down, and the bank has appointed Rajiv Ahuja as interim MD and CEO with immediate effect. Misri, a 1989 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has also been India's ambassador to China. Misri has held several positions in the Ministry of External Affairs including Under Secretary.

7) - Bank of America Securities has projected India's GDP growth rate to be 8.2 percent in the fiscal year 2022-23. The US brokerage said that the low rate of Kovid vaccination and the new version of Kovid-19 could create uncertainty for the development of Omicron. Talking about various sectors, Bank of America estimates that the growth rate of agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector will be 3.5 percent in the next fiscal year. This is less than four per cent of the current financial year.

8) - Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has been named PETA's '2021 Person of the Year' for her work in support of the animal-friendly fashion industry. The actress recently invested in the flower company behind Fleither, which makes vegan leather from flowers thrown at the temple. Alia Bhatt is also known to advocate for cats and dogs and has at times raised her voice for stronger animal protection laws.

9) - International Pandemic Preparedness Day was organized across the world on 27 December. The day was first observed in the year 2020, when the United Nations General Assembly emphasized the need to advocate for the importance of preparedness, prevention and partnership against pandemics. 11) - Norwegian chess master Magnus Carlsen has won the FIDE World Championship title. He defeated Ian Nepomnyachchi of Russia 7.5-3.5 to capture the title. This is Carlsen's fifth global title. He defeated Nepomniachi by securing the one point needed to surpass the seven-point target. Carlsen won the 11th game of this 14-match series in three hours and 20 minutes.
