UPSC NDA Written Exam Syllabus 2022

UPSC NDA Selection Process will be in 2 stages – Written Exam and SSB Interview. The written test will be of 900 marks, with Maths weighting of 300 marks and General Aptitude of 600 marks. UPSC NDA General Aptitude Syllabus 2022

Part A — ENGLISH (Maximum Marks—200)
The question paper in English will be designed to test the candidate's understanding of English and use of words. The syllabus covers various aspects such as grammar and usage, vocabulary, comprehension and coherence in extended text to test the candidate's proficiency in English.

Note : Out of the maximum marks assigned for Part 'B' of this paper, questions on Sections 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D', 'E' and 'F' approx 25%, 15%, 10%, 20%, 20% and 10% weightage respectively.



The SSB process consists of a two-stage selection process – Phase I and Phase II. Only those candidates who clear Phase I are allowed to appear for Phase II. The details are as follows:

(a) Stage I consists of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests, which are Picture Perception & Description Tests (PP&DT). Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of performance in OIR Test and PP&DT.

(b) Stage II consists of interview, group test, officer assignment, psychology test and conference. These tests are conducted over 4 days.
  • The personality of a candidate is assessed by three different evaluators (Interview Officer (IO), Group Testing Officer (GTO) and Psychologist).
  • There are no separate weightage for each test. The masks are allotted by the evaluators keeping in mind the performance of the candidate in all the examinations.
  • Apart from this, marks are also allotted for the conference based on the preliminary performance of the candidate in the three techniques and decision of the Board. All of them have equal weight.
  • Various tests of IO, GTO and Psychologist are designed to bring out the presence/absence of possessing qualities and their potential in a candidate.
  • Accordingly, candidates are not recommended or recommended in SSB.
