Answer-
1) - Sudan's Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok announced his resignation on January 2, 2022, amid a political deadlock following a military coup and widespread pro-democracy protests. A former UN official, Hamdok was considered a public figure in Sudan's transfer of power. He was reappointed to his post in an agreement after a military coup in October.

2) - Himachal Pradesh has become the first LPG free and smoke free state in the country due to the Central Government's Ujjwala Yojana and the State Government's Grihini Suvidha Yojana. The Ujjwala scheme was started by the central government to help women get rid of serious diseases caused by smoke caused by burning wood stoves. The state government also started Grihini Suvidha Yojana to benefit more and more women.

3) - Kerala High Court has become the first paperless court in the country. It was inaugurated by Justice DY Chandrachud of the Supreme Court on 01 January 2022. DY Chandrachud said that court is a service provided by the state to all its citizens and e-filing and paperless courts are an important step towards decentralization of justice.

4) - Vinay Kumar Tripathi has been appointed as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Railway Board. A statement issued by the Ministry of Railways said that the appointment of Vinay Kumar Tripathi has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) and he is currently the General Manager of North Eastern Railway. Vinay Kumar Tripathi did his B.Tech (Electrical Engineering) from Roorkee and joined Railways from the 1983 Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) batch. His first posting was as Assistant Electrical Engineer in Northern Railway.

5) - The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the shortlisted players for the Best Female Cricketer Award for the year 2021. Indian women's team opener Smriti Mandhana has been nominated for this award for her outstanding performance in all formats. Mandhana, a left-handed batsman, scored 855 runs in 22 international matches during 2021 at an average of 38.86, including one century and five half-centuries.

6) - British-origin Sikh Army officer Preet Chandi has created history by becoming the first "non-white woman" to travel to the South Pole alone. Chandi's adventure began in November of last year, when she began her unsupported journey from Antarctica's Hercules Inlet, CNN reports.

7) - State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has appointed Alka Mittal as the interim chairman and managing director of the company. Alka Mittal is the first woman to become the chairman of the largest energy company. Alka Mittal had joined the Board of Directors of ONGC on November 27, 2018 and was also the first woman to achieve this feat. She joined ONGC in 1985 as a graduate trainee and had previously worked in Corporate Office as Head CSR.

8) - India's Permanent Representative TS Tirumurti assumed the position of Chairman of the Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) for 2022. However, India is currently a non-permanent member of the 15-member Security Council and will have a two-year term. Expired December 31, 2022. The Anti-Terrorism Committee (CTC) was set up in 2001 in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. United Nations Security Council Resolution 1373 (2001) established the Anti-Terrorism Committee as a subsidiary body of the Council.

9) - Antigua and Barbuda has become the 102nd country to join the International Solar Alliance (ISA). The Indian High Commission in Guyana gave this information by tweeting and signed the Framework Agreement. Antigua and Barbuda joined the International Solar Framework in the presence of Indian High Commissioner Dr KJ Srinivas. The International Solar Alliance is a collaborative platform for the increased deployment of solar energy technologies in its member countries as a means of bringing energy access, ensuring energy security, and driving the energy transition.

10)- Vinod Kannan has taken over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vistara airline. Kannan replaces Leslie Thung. He was the CEO of the company from July 16, 2017 to December 31, 2021. Simultaneously, Deepak Rajawat has been promoted as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Vistara, the company said. Kannan joined Vistara in June 2019 as the Chief Strategy Officer.

The school was established on 30 April 2015 based on an agreement between the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Ministry of Defence.

14) - Recently, five new non-permanent members (Albania, Brazil, Gabon, Ghana and United Arab Emirates) have been elected to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Albania is joining the Security Council for the first time, while Brazil is joining the Security Council for the 11th time as a non-permanent member. Gabon and Ghana have been on the council three times before and the United Arab Emirates has joined the council once.

15) - Recently North Korea has tested a 'hypersonic missile', which has successfully destroyed its target. North Korea had previously tested a 'hypersonic missile' for the first time in September. 'Hypersonic missiles' typically fly toward targets at lower altitudes than ballistic missiles and reach targets at more than five times the speed of sound, or about 6,200 kilometers per hour (3,850 mph). Hypersonic weapons are considered to be the next generation weapons.

16) - Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated India's first Open Rock Museum in Hyderabad on 06 January 2022. The release said that 'Open Rock Music' has been established with the objective of educating and informing the public about many lesser known facts. It contains about 35 different types of rocks from different parts of India, whose age ranges from 3.3 billion years of Earth's history to about 55 million years.
